Shades Of Grey
When I moved into my recent apartment and started decorating, the whole grey obsession just started...happening. Technically the color grey is achromatic which means it is a colour "without colour". But that doesn't make me love the shade any less.
Earl Grey is my favorite tea. It is a black tea flavored with bergamot oil. A hot or iced cup of this brew in the morning puts me in the best mood throughout the day! Sometimes I add roses or a splash of lemon but the natural flavor of this leaf is divine. It has anxiety relieving properties and is an antioxidant to help fight cancer.
My office chairs, desk table cloth, drapes, mirror frame and organizer bin are all shades of grey. Grey is a calm color. Neither too stimulating nor too relaxing. I have read that too much grey can cause sadness or depression but the kitchen and bathroom counters that came with the apartment are orange ( Odd, I know.) so we get our pop of color, which goes surprisingly well with the grey.
This color in my work space gives me the feeling of a blank canvas. My mind does not wander but steady and focused. This works for me because I get very overstimulated with my mind running out of control or easily distracted by my surroundings.
What color do you surround yourself with? Intentionally or not! I highly suggest looking up that color on Wikipedia and finding out its history. I learned very interesting facts about the color grey in the arts of the past, and how it relates in nature ( Aging process, common animal color, weather communicator).
I don't know how long I will be in this grey stage, but i will stay Cool, Calm and Collected while it lasts!
