Vik: So we have been working together for the past couple months but I never even asked you…how did you find me online?! (*Note: Don’t be like me. Ask these questions first when working with people online! LOL)
Laura: I saw you on Style Collective's website. You were featured on there with a summary of what you do and info about your blog. I explored your IG and your blog and found that you were exactly the kind of person I wanted to work with. Your blog post featuring the photoshoot you shot was captivating! I remembered thinking then how wonderful it would be for you to shoot my collection. And then, it happened.
Vik: Oh! Style Collective is THE BEST! You are actually the second SC Sister I have worked with since joining the group. I love being a part of a space with such supportive and creative women. I know A Worthy Brand’s mission is to uplift women too! How long have you been working on this collection and what motivated you to launch your own brand?
Laura: I've spent the last year creating my signature collection while spending every day researching the industry. As well, I'm big on learning and taking courses. Anything I can get my hands on, podcasts, courses, videos, tutorials, webinars, books, etc. I consider myself a life-long learner. There is so much that goes into running a business and nothing is ever done. You can never learn everything, I believe it's a constant evolution. Over a year ago I experienced something that is really hard for me to describe. My best friend had launched her own business and seeing her do it, really gave me the courage to believe I could as well. She really sparked something inside of me, and my outlook on things has completely shifted. Everything just fell together like magic and I've never looked back. I've spent every day since, researching, creating, and growing this brand into something I can honestly be proud of today. In regards to what made me create this specific brand with this specific mission; I grew up totally lacking self-worth. I never felt heard, I never felt seen; it was a vicious ride that I couldn't get off. My life may be different now, but I always honor that painful era. It's made be the woman I am today.
Vik: You’ve really turned that experience into a beautiful thing. Pressure makes diamonds! Speaking of diamonds, you say everyone has gemstone qualities. Which stones speak to you the most?
Laura: I love all gemstones, but peach moonstone just does something to me, it looks like it has tiny specks of glitter, it's so shimmery and just a very feminine stone. It's not as popular as regular moonstone or what is also known as "rainbow moonstone." And yes I really do believe everyone has gemstone qualities, sometimes we just need to be reminded. By reminding others, I then am reminded myself. :)
Vik: I never really seen peach moonstone till I saw your jewelry! There is something about it that is so special and each gem gives off a different energy. How to you want your customer to feel when wearing A Worthy Brand?
Laura: A Worthy Brand was created with the mission to highlight a woman's worth, while empowering her to feel seen and be heard. When I launched A Worthy Brand, my intention was to offer jewelry that gave women voices - little talismans that meant something significant; precious amulets made to empower. I wanted each piece to remind a woman why she's worthy, to celebrate her "work in progress." When you wear A Worthy Brand you share a kinship with the sisterhood - women like you who felt like they didn't have a voice at times but are on the path to a life less ordinary.
Vik: I LOVE that! We all need that light in our lives, whether we get it from others, find it within, or share it. A Worthy Brand plans to share its light with organizations that support women. Which organizations are you excited to be working with?
Laura: Yes, I'm happy to be taking a tour of Dress For Success Phoenix this next week. I reached out to them and they have been very receptive to receiving a portion of sales, which would further empower women to receive economic independence. I am thrilled to be meeting with them and support their mission wholeheartedly. They have boutiques around the world, and for example, women can go and receive work attire for job interviews. They also provide tools, resources, and support to help women succeed in work and in life by becoming self-sufficient. If anyone is interested in learning more about what they do, and how you can donate your work-appropriate clothing, please check them out on IG @DressForSuccess.
Vik: Laura, you are a rockstar! I can not wait to see what is next for you and A Worthy brand! Thank you for answering my questions and letting me be a part of your new adventure! Anything you'd like to end with?
Laura: If I could just end with one thing it would be this: Please remember, you always have a voice, even if you haven't found it yet. Sometimes the greatest challenges and difficulties in life are wisdom disguised - it's a gift.
