My First Time Sewing Pants!
If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I finally decided to take a sewing class. I love to upcycle clothing but I had been sewing my creations by hand, which can be daunting. I’ve had projects set aside for way too long and the worst part is.. I have a sewing machine!! I have had my sewing machine for a couple years but couldn’t figure it out, became frustrated and gave up. Trouble shooting machines just isn’t my thing.
It was a funny combination of coincidences that lead me to signing up for a class at the local adult school. I just so happened to catch a Project Runway marathon the night before I went to work wearing one of my upcycled jackets. My coworker complimented it and was surprised to hear that I made it myself. She was telling me about the adult school classes and as she went on her lunch break, she received an email about the class sign ups being open! They started the next week.
How many more years would I keep “Learn how to use sewing machine” on my New Year goals list before I finally crossed it off?
I signed up that night.
Picking the fabric at the local shop, Picking Daisies, was sooooo fun! I found the sequin circles in my scrap fabric box that I had cut off of a old t-shirt a while ago and added them for a little sparkle. The fit is relaxed and I might make them more fitted in the future but for now, I am happy and feeling super accomplished! More designs by Vik to come.
Yes, I feel silly waiting so long to learn but better late then never!
Cheers to accomplishing goals of all sizes :)
